Our drop off program is the perfect introduction to school for your little ones. Whether you need time to work or wish for your child to ease into play and socialization with other children, we have a wonderful program in store! Our program is also a great option for children who are not attending Junior Kindergarten, as our Early Childhood Educator who has created this program has 6 years of experience teaching in an Ontario Full Day Kindergarten classroom. This is also a graet option for children who are being homeschooled and looking for a creative outlet and a chance to make friends!
The Art of Play School program encompasses the values that the studio is built upon. Our play-based programming follows the process of Emergent Curriculum where the interests, abilities and inquiries of the children are followed, supported and extended by our experienced educators. Children will be active collaborators and contributors in their learning and growth. Materials, environments and experiences offered will be developmentally appropriate and responsive to the individual children in the program. . Art, sensory play, loose parts explorations, experiments, nature-based learning, reading books, socialization and language development will all be a part of our days. Wether permitting, we will spend at least an hour each day outdoors either on a neighbourhood walk or at Broadlands park. Walks to the Independent grocery store in the plaza to pick up supplies or enhance learning are also part of our programming.
Our class size is capped at 5 children with 1 or 2 staff each day. This small group size means a more relaxed and nurturing environment with more individual attention for each child. Volunteers, Early Childhood Educator/Co-op students and Assistants may be present throughout the year.
Children can attend 1 to 4 days per week but must be registered for the year. There will be no program during March Break or on statutory holidays. Fees are set at $55/day +HST for 9:30am-2pm or $65+HST for 9:30am-3pm. Families will be invoiced monthly each month. Unfortunately we cannot give refunds for missed days as we are a small program that relies on registered numbers. There may be a possibility of a make up day if numbers allow. If a child needs to withdraw before the year end, 2 weeks written notice must be given.
This is a drop off program. Families are asked to bring all diapering items for children who are not toilet-trained each day. A nut-free snack will be provided each morning, taking allergies into account. Children must bring a lunch. Please bring a labelled water bottle and a full change of clothes each day. Dress for mess, as we cannot 100% guarantee that our washable paint will come out of all fabrics. Dress for the weather each day. We will monitor weather conditions daily to decide time spent outdoors. Indoor shoes or going in socks/barefeet will be necessary during wet weather days.
